There are literally THOUSANDS of books on the law of attraction. What was once touted as the ‘great secret’ has now become a genre of books in itself. With so many authors claiming to have the ‘missing piece’ or the ‘new insight’ that will finally allow you to master the law of attraction, you can waste a lot of time wading through useless drivel trying to find the best law of attraction books that actually give you some real, useable strategies and information.

Best Law of Attraction Books

To make it easier, I’ve broken it down based on level of knowledge to recommend the best law of attraction books that delve progressively deeper into the subject and build a concrete understanding of the law and how to apply it. Depending on your current level of understanding, you can jump straight to the recommendations that will advance your knowledge and help you avoid yet another ‘fluff’ book that waffles on and leaves you wondering if you can get a refund.

Beginner level

If you are completely new to the law of attraction, or have a vague idea but would like to grasp the basic ideas, here are the best books to start with:

The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

The first book to bring the Law of Attraction to the mass market, The Secret is a beautifully illustrated introduction to a ‘great secret’ to success and living the life of your dreams that had been hidden for centuries by the rich and powerful. After learning about the secret in an old book, author Rhonda Byrne tracked down and interviewed some of the few individuals today working with and teaching this secret (a.k.a. the law of attraction) and shared it with the world via The Secret book and a 2006 movie.

This is an excellent introductory book to the law of attraction, giving a basic overview of the key concepts and ideas. Applying the information in this book will help you attract a modicum of better things into your life (like the good parking spaces and the last slice of cake), but doesn’t give enough grounding in the subject to begin to manifest on any kind of real intentional and directed basis.

Choose Them Wisely: Thoughts Become Things by Mike Dooley

Similar to The Secret, this introductory book is written with joyful humor. Dooley’s fun and somewhat wacky style brings a positive vibe to the information and will leave you feeling positive about the possibilities open to you when you start practicing the law of attraction. Great for feeling positive, attracting some fun things into your experience, but not in-depth enough for intentional manifestation.

Intermediate

Once you have grasped the basics and would like to delve a little deeper into raising your frequency and beginning to apply the law of attraction in your everyday life, here are the next few recommendations to deepen your understanding:

The Course in Manifesting 3 Book Box Set by Genevieve Davis

This bestselling 3 book set outlines specific strategies and action steps to develop and apply your knowledge of the law of attraction to actually make it work. Author Genevieve Davis had the same problems that many of us face when learning about the law of attraction – she read all the books but couldn’t make it work. Unlike many of the ‘fluff’ books out there claiming to have the ‘missing piece to the LoA puzzle’ Genevieve actually does. Through her research and personal experience, she found an approach that’s missing from the more introductory level books to create reliable result from her practice. If you’re ready for concrete results, this 3-book series is a worthwhile investment.

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay

This is just a wonderful book. Many of the reasons we struggle with the LoA revolve around our limiting beliefs, negativity biases, and difficulty in genuinely loving and feeling good about ourselves. Louise Hay is an expert in reframing your thinking, affirmations, and exercises that will start to work on your deeper emotional wellbeing and help unlock your ability to achieve higher vibrations and attract more good into your life.

Advanced

Now you know how it works, but want to know WHY – what are the meanings behind the laws? Why does it work? Here are my recommendations to advance your understanding of the all-important WHY:

Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue, Book 1, by Neale Donald Walsh

Possibly the most influential book I have read in terms of truly explaining WHY we are here, what our purpose is on this planet, and our role as creators and manifestors of our own unique experience. A written transcript of an actual conversation between author Walsh and God, this book (and those that follow in the series) challenge our understanding of life, conflict, success, love, and our relationship with God itself.

Probably my favourite LoA book of all time, and the one that has done the most to develop my understanding of the way the Universe works. Well worth investing in not only Book 1, but the other books in the series, and Walsh’s other book Happier Than God.

The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham by Ester and Jerry Hicks and Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires by Ester and Jerry Hicks

The Abraham Hicks books document the wisdom of Abraham – a group of non-physical entities channeled by Ester Hicks. Abraham’s teachings were part of the original inspiration for the book ‘The Secret’ and make up several comprehensive titles on the laws of the universe. Abraham’s teaching center around the idea that our reality is created through our attention and focus, and that our emotions act as a primary ‘guidance system’ to help us connect with Source.

Abraham’s language is on occasion complex, and a little ‘clunky’, so it is not an easy read. However, it offers a wonderful perspective on co-creating life and manifesting desired experiences, and addresses some of the more challenging questions posed by the law of attraction, such as the free will of others, the interplay of manifestations, and why bad things happen to innocents.

The Original Law of Attraction book

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Remember the ‘old book’ that Rhonda Byrne found that inspired her to write The Secret? Well this is it. Written in 1937 and inspired by the lives of some of the most successful and wealthy men of his generation (think Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, and Thomas Edison) Hill lays out the success principles and strategies for the common man to attain wealth and success. This is THE original LoA book (although you won’t see the phrase ‘law of attraction’ appear in the book!) and is an excellent read for the practical, success-oriented, no-nonsense individual looking for the blueprints to creating a successful future. or as Hill put it, “for men and women who resent poverty”.
